Velká viola postavená podle modelu tzv. Tertis, který kombinuje velký objem korpusu se stále hratelnou mensurou. Klenby jsou plné a luby vysoké. Provedení je čisté a charakteristické. Viola je zcela v pořádku, má jen zesílený střed vrchní desky a pod podbradkem již od autora vysazený suk. Zvuk je plný a nosný.
A big viola made after the model Tertis that combines a great volume of the body and still palyable string length. The arching is full and the ribs high. The workmanship is clean and characteristic. The viola is in top condition. It only has a patch over the center of the belly for strenghtening and under the chinrest is a patched nut done by the author. The sound is full and carrying.

Uvnitř na vrchní desce je též záznam o opravě "Opravil Oberländer Rudolf Praha 19.I.1966". Zjevně se jedná o zhotovení zmíněného futra a basového trámce. Alfons F. Vávra (1901-1957) byl synem Jana Baptisty Vávry, zakladatele významného houslařského rodu Vávrů. U něho se vyučil v letech 1915-1919 a osamostatnil se již v roce 1920 ve filiálce svého otce v Banské Bystrici na Slovensku. V roce 1925 se A. F. Vávra vrátil do Prahy a otevřel si vlastní atelier. V roce 1927 se oženil a měl tři dcery Annu *1928, Ludmilu *1931, Marii *1933 a jednoho syna Alfonse *1936. Ludmila a Alfons se u otce vyučili a pracovali s ním až do jeho smrti. A. F. Vávra byl velmi pilným houslařem. Mimo oprav stavěl i nové nástroje, v prvních letech i kytary, byskytary a konrabasy. Housle a violoncella stavěl podle různých modelů, často také jako imitace mladších italských houslařů. Postavil také několik viol podle modelu "Tertis". Později používal většinou model Stradivariho a Guarneriho. Měkký lak, který byl někdy méně průhledný, má barvu zlatožlutou, žlutočervenou, ale i červenou. V r. 1949 se zúčastnil soutěže v Haagu a v r. 1954 s velkým úspěchem národní soutěže.
Alfons F. Vávra (1901-1957) was son of Jan Baptista Vávra, the founder of the important Czech violin makers' dynasty. He apprenticed at his father 1915-1919 and became independent already in 1920 in his father's branch in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia). In 1925 he returned to Prague and opened his own shop. He got married in 1927 and had three daughters Anna *1928, Ludmila *1931, Marie *1933 and one son Alfons *1936. Ludmila and Alfons apprenticed at their father and worked with him until his death. A. F. Vávra was a very diligent maker. Apart from repairing he built new instruments, in the first years even guitars, bass guitars and double basses. He built his violins and violoncellos after various models, often those of younger italian violin makers. He also built a few violas after the model "Tertis". Later he used mostly models of Stradivari and Guarneri. His varnish is soft, sometimes less transparent, of golden, yellow-red or even red colour. In 1949 he took part in the violin making competition in Hague and in 1954 with great success in a national competition.
